Koos Limburg Jnr. was born in The Netherlands, the only child of Catharina Anna Limburg-Grootenhuis and Jacobus Arie Limburg. In 1994 he followed his parents to Scotland, a country they all love so much, particularly because of the excellent salmon fishing.
Over the last forty years Koos’parents have built up an internationally acclaimed antiques business in The Netherlands, selling rare and important objects to the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, the Carnegie Museum Pittsburg, U.S.A. and other museums all over the world.
Koos Jnr.’s father is a qualified antiques valuer and is highly respected within the world of antiques, having discovered many pieces of great importance. Koos Jnr. has been immersed in the antiques business from a very early age and he decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and has set up his own antiques business.
He has opted to exhibit and sell his collection at fairs rather than through galleries, at first only in Scotland but very quickly thereafter in England as well. For many years Koos Jnr. has also been a regular exhibitor at many prestigious international fairs on the Continent. He is renowned for his imposing artistic and dramatic presentation stands on which he displays his collection of antiques, reflecting their excellent quality, and for which he has won several prices.
From the outset, Koos Jnr.’s goal was to establish his name in the antiques world as a highly reputable antiques dealer, ( following his parents’ example ) and, within only a few years, he became LAPADA member; the association of quality antique dealers in the U.K. He has exhibited at many LAPADA fairs in London and elsewhere in the U.K.
He does not want to be indentified as a specialist in one particularly field or another but is always on the hunt for rare, unusual and quality items, with the result that you can find anything and everything on his stands, covering the whole range of items of interest to the first time collector up to the museum director. Koos Jnr.’s parents have been very influential on his chosen career and have imbued in him a detailed knowledge of, and a huge enthusiasm for, the antiques business.
They still continue to fully support and tutor him in the difficult world of antiques. Whilst his parents live in Scotland most of the time, where they enjoy an idyllic country life in beautiful surroundings, Catharina regularly attends the antiques fairs with Koos Jnr. and his father is always on hand to give sound expert advice whenever necessary.
Koos Jnr. feels extremely privileged to have access to such invaluable expertise and guidance together with access to a well stocked family library of more than 10,000 books and documents about works of art and antiques to enable him to carry out detailed research.
Koos Limburg Jnr. guarantees to any potential collector that they are in experienced and reputable hands and that all items displayed by Koos Jnr. have been thoroughly researched and discussed by him and his family.
